Google Apps no longer free?

Several news outlets (Wired) reported yesterday that Google Apps, the web suite that brings us cloud-based word processing, presentations and other applications, is no longer allowing new sign-ups for the traditional Google Apps, in favor of a monetized version called Google Apps for Business. It seems, at least for the time being, that current users and Apps for Education users are not going to be affected by the change, but it does beg the question of how long ANY Google Apps versions will remain free. This may have an eventual impact on education, as the districts using Google Apps for Education continues to grow. TIme will tell.
